Let's Eat!

This past couple of weeks I was in Virginia with a friend.  Even though I watch what I eat, I had to try some of the more interesting meals.  Here are some I found particularly tasty:

Scrabbled eggs, hash browns, smothered with sausage gravy.

Fresh bread with oil and balsamic to dip it in.

To go with the bread, a chicken, feta, spinach and caramel walnuts salad.

Apparently a Virginia specialty, hamburger with bacon and peanut butter with a side of sweet potato fries.

A bowl of delicious shrimp, crab, spinach, and mozzarella, all melted in a cheesy cream sauce.

San Francisco Bay

The trip ended in the San Francisco Bay docks.  I have never been to San Francisco before and seeing it from the bay was incredible.  The Golden Gate Bridge was the first thing we saw.  Behind it and in a distance you can see Alcatraz.  Once we got under and passed the bridge, we can see the skyline of San Francisco.  This was an amazing trip.

Maui Whale Watch

The entire gang decided to go whale watching together.  After getting off the ship, we boarded a bus and traveled a good distance through Maui.  This was the most beautiful place I had ever seen.  We didn't mind the drive because the scenery made it worth it.  We then got on a boat and headed out to see the whales.  We were very lucky, they decided to make an appearance for us.

Volcanoes National Park

Even though the kids had plans to go on excursions without my husband and myself, we did manage to take a couple of shore trips with them.  One of the places we went was Volcanoes National Park.  We were a bit worried when getting on the bus.  Our driver not only looked like Tommy Chong, but appeared to be high.  After a slow start, "Tommy" as I called him, ended up being a wonderful tour guide.

Green Hawaii

My husband and I decided to take the interior trip through Kauai.  We were amazed on how green and gorgeous it was.

Pride of Aloha

Since I have vacation on the brain, because I am close to leaving for my Virginia trip, I will be posting pictures from our Hawaiian cruise in 2006.  My husband and I were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and decided a cruise would be fun.  We were joined by our two kids and each brought a friend along.  We started the cruise in Hawaii and ended it in San Francisco.  It ended up taking eleven days.
