Mission Bay Views

From the house we rented near Mission Bay in San Diego, CA, we had great views of the water from our balcony.

Back Home

I am back from San Diego and the beach.  The trip was fun and weather was amazing.  Now it is time to get back to blogging...

San Diego

I am on a well deserved vacation in San Diego.  I haven't been there since 2008.  I am looking forward to hitting the beach, Sea World, historic downtown, and do some shopping.

Wooden Heart

A friend of ours was walking through the woods near his house and saw this piece of wood.  He noticed the curved shape and thought he could make something interesting from it.  When he cut it in half and put the pieces together, it formed a heart.  My husband and I were the lucky ones to get this fabulous piece of art which now adorns our wall.

This sweet angel is made of iron and very heavy.  I found her in an antique shop in Tubac, AZ.

I found this rusty/funky Chihuahua at an antique store.  I put him next to Beetlejuice and now they are best friends.  My granddaughter named the Chihuahua "Scout".

The Crate

In our kids room, the TV sat on a nightstand but was too low for all to see.  I wanted to raise it up and used a new wood crate I bought before we moved.  Since the crate was heavy, I decided that it would be perfect to put the TV on.  I went to Michael's to get more red paint and brushes.  I also found a small piece of wood to add a shelf in the middle.  And now my project began...

I picked red for the base color and white for the exterior.  I have never used crackle effects before, so this was a new experience for me.

I painted the crate and shelf red.  After it dried, I applied the crackle effect.

After the crackle dried, I painted a couple of coats of white.

Not bad for my first attempt.

This is the end result.  I love how it came out.  It looks great in the kids room.
